The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) held its 25th Annual Meeting on June 20, 2011, at the JCC Training & Conference Facility in Dunkirk. More than 90 community members were in attendance.

Elections were held at the Annual Meeting.

The Board of Director’s welcomed back Jean Malinoski and new Board members John Rawlinson and Richard Ryan; all for five-year terms.

The Voting Membership also welcomed back current members - David Hazelton, Richard Johnson, Susan Marsh, Meredith Patton, R. Bard Schaack, Carmen Liera, Andrew W. Dorn Jr., James H. Mintun Jr. and John Wrigley for three-year terms. Adam Bratton, Mary Beth Chess, Nancy Eberz, Gileen French, David Penharlow and John Runkle are newly elected members for three-year terms.

NCCF President Pete Holt made the following appointments to the Nominating Committee: Jerry Hall, JoAnn Kaufman, and Kristine Morabito. He thanked Rose Ann Falcone for her three years of service on the Committee.

Review of 2010

Last year $406,833 was distributed through 161 grants, 249 scholarships and various special projects. Contributions were received in the amount of $1,615,000, including two bequests and one large gift. Twelve new funds were added in 2010 bringing the total to 338 funds.

At December 31, assets totaled $16,775,353. Expenses for 2010 were virtually unchanged.

Peter Holt and David Larson thanked for years of service

Peter Clark recognized Pete Holt and David Larson as they recently retired from the NCCF Board of Directors after 10 years of service.

Larson has volunteered with the NCCF for 15 years starting in 1996 as a member of the Grants Committee. In addition to his Board service, he served on the Audit, Administration and Grants Committees. He led each of these committees as chairman.

Holt has served as president for the past two years. He supported the establishment of The Westfield Fund and established the Pete and Diana Holt Family Fund. He has served as a member of the Grants Committee for nine years and has held every office with the exception of Treasurer.

Each was thanked for his service and presented with a framed photograph done by local artists.

The NCCF was incorporated in 1986 as a tax-exempt charitable organization. Since its establishment, the NCCF has distributed over $8.3 million within the community through its various grant programs. It is an organization inherently committed to furthering its mission to enrich the northern Chautauqua community and encourage local philanthropy.

BUILDING BETTER BOARDS THROUGH STRATEGIC GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP by iklahn
The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is hosting a Workshop “Building Better Boards through Strategic Governance“ on Monday, April 23rd at the JCC North County Training Center in Dunkirk. Two sessions will be offered from 9:00-12:00 am and from 6:00-9:00 pm. Pat Smith, founder and president of “Management Strategies” will be facilitating the workshop.
