A benefit to raise funds that assist patients and families with unexpected transportation expenses is planned for Saturday, Oct. 22, in downtown Fredonia.

"Friends" West Fest features, bands, music, raffles, and munchies at several downtown locations.

The event is planned by the RO Foundation of Dunkirk, NY, which was founded in 2010 through the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation by Joseph C. Russo Jr. and Margaret R. Owen.

The RO Foundation's mission is to raise monies through fundraising events and donations to assist local medical patients and their families with monies to offset cost associated with transportation to and from medical appointments for treatments.

Participating locations are B.J.'s, Coughlins, SUBWAY, The Brick Room, and 41 West, in addition to various downtown locations.
