AmazingCounty.com, a joint project of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation and Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, recently awarded a $360 maintenance program prize from the Shults Auto Group to Jamestown resident Anne Fearman.
Ms. Fearman was the second place winner for the AmazingCounty.com online treasure hunt that took place during the month of September.
AmazingCounty.com is a new, fun interactive online treasure hunt designed to help people learn more about Chautauqua County.
In addition, the project aims to help introduce different forms of social media to the community. Those involved in the project are encouraged to promote the initiative via Facebook pages, Twitter messages, or simply promotional messages sent through email, known as e-blasts.
AmazingCounty.com has already hosted two online treasure hunts this year, each lasting one month, with one more hunt planned for the month of November. Each of the hunts has a specific theme that focuses on different segments of the community. The first hunt (held during June) focused on Chautauqua County’s history, arts and cultural areas, while the second hunt (held during September) highlighted animal welfare and conservation assets. The next hunt, which is set to begin on November 1, will feature “The Amazing Community Foundations”.
During the month-long hunts, participants log into the AmazingCounty.com website daily and complete series of tasks related to the hunt’s specific theme. Each day there are multiple activities, such as puzzles, videos, and trivia. By answering the daily tasks correctly, participants are awarded points that translate into opportunities to win daily, weekly, and grand prizes, all while learning about the hidden treasures Chautauqua County.
For their part, the Shults Auto Group has been an ongoing sponsor of the AmazingCounty.com initiative, offering a $360 maintenance program as a prize for each of the three hunts. Those who win the maintenance program can expect to receive services such as oil changes, tire rotations and state inspections.
