Community relations coordinator position open

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) is seeking a Community Relations & Development Coordinator. This person, under the leadership of the Executive Director, will work to increase the NCCF’s visibility and create broad public awareness of the NCCF. Additionally, s/he will work to further the NCCF’s goals for asset growth and donor services. A new position to the organization, the Coordinator will have the opportunity to build the community relations and development functions.

Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Community Relations:
  1. work with staff and board to heighten community awareness;
  2. prepare all publications (e.g. Annual Report, press releases, advertisements) and other media pieces;
  3. promote the services of the Foundation on a regular basis using all forms of media available;
  4. plan and implement special events and celebrations (e.g. Annual Meeting, Corporate Philanthropy Day, etc.);
  5. develop special presentations (Power Point, hand-outs, brochures, etc.)
  6. coordinate the George B. Weaver Footprints Award selection and award process;
  7. keep abreast of web page and social media trends, photo-editing, and video production that would support the communication efforts of the Foundation;
  8.  and, represent the Foundation at various functions in the community.
Development:
  1. execute the Development Plan under the direction of the Executive Director
  2. Development Committee and Board of Directors, review plan annually;
  3. build, maintain, and cultivate relationships with individuals, nonprofit organizations and professional advisers for the long-term benefit of the NCCF;
  4. assure that all appropriate documents are properly signed, executed and maintained accordingly;
  5. assure that all specific fund intentions are met;
  6.  provide planned giving information to donors, nonprofit organizations, and prospective donors for the purposes of establishing funds at the NCCF and promoting of local philanthropy;
  7. promote the Northern Chautauqua Bequest Society, to include recognition of current members;
  8. and, work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on communication strategies that promote the development of NCCF assets.
Additional:
  1. provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all those individuals and organizations that are in contact with the Foundation;
  2. participate in relevant professional organizations;
  3. maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, as well as Foundation Information Management System (FIMS) and other technical programs as required;
  4. and, perform any and all functions necessary to assure the vitality and growth of the NCCF.

Qualifications

  •  experience in public relations, marketing, communications, development and/or fundraising fields
  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  •  excellent oral and written communication skills
  •  excellent computer skills
  •  strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish good working relationships with all NCCF constituents
  •  ability to manage multiple tasks
  •  available evenings and weekends (on occasion)
  •  strong attention to detail
  •  ability to work independently and to take initiative, as well as to be an effective team member
  •  possess a passion for the northern Chautauqua community

BUILDING BETTER BOARDS THROUGH STRATEGIC GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP by iklahn
The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is hosting a Workshop “Building Better Boards through Strategic Governance“ on Monday, April 23rd at the JCC North County Training Center in Dunkirk. Two sessions will be offered from 9:00-12:00 am and from 6:00-9:00 pm. Pat Smith, founder and president of “Management Strategies” will be facilitating the workshop.
