Local Teachers Invited to Apply for NCCF Service Learning Mini-Grants

Local teachers are eligible to apply for the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation’s (NCCF) Service Learning Mini-Grant Program. These grants are available to middle and high school teachers in northern Chautauqua County for projects that combine meaningful community service with traditional instruction, enriching the learning experience for students and promoting civic responsibility outside the classroom.

Individual grants of up to $500 are available for the Service Learning Mini-Grant Program on a competitive basis.  For the 2016-2017 school year, NCCF awarded 15 grants to 7 school districts totaling $6,734. Classrooms from all disciplines participate in this program: health, music, English, art, trades and much more. As an example, The Big Buddy Little Buddy program pairs BOCES Health Careers students with Special Education students.

NCCF’s Applebee’s Flapjack Breakfast and Basket Raffle Fundraiser contributes funds for the mini-grant projects. This year’s event raised over $2,100 for the 2017-2018 school year program.

Applications for the next round of grants are due to NCCF by May 26, 2017.  The committee will review all applications and announce the awards in June 2017. For an application and to learn more about this program visit our website at www.nccfoundation.org/service-learning, call the office at 716-366-4892 or send an e-mail to nccf@nccfoundation.org.

The NCCF, incorporated in 1986, is a tax-exempt charitable organization.  Since its establishment, the NCCF has distributed more than $12.9 million in the community through its various grant programs.  It is an organization inherently committed to enriching the northern Chautauqua community and encouraging local philanthropy.  For more information on the NCCF, visit www.nccfoundation.org or call 716-366-4892.
